"Thought Not" Hotties

So Oliver over at "Thought Not" linked to the right has just launched a new contest titled "Thought Not Hotties" and the idea of it is to find the Hottest of Hot gay bloggers out there on the Net.
I regularly read Oliver's Blog and as soon as I saw his latest venture I was first of the mark to nominate Scott from Bill in Exile, not only does he co-produce one of the best fucking Blogs on the planet but through our Tawdry and Sizzling lust fuelled cross-pacific affair I have gotten to see a side of Scott that truly set in stone what I thought before I even knew him, and that is that Scott is one HOT motherfucker!! -not only for his outstanding physical attributes but that inspiring and incredible mind of his!, so I urge you all to go and vote for him!!.
If you like you can also nominate us as a team...double the trouble and double the fun as some others have done already.
and in the case you aren't into the Muscled Distinguished Marine types may I Suggest the irresistible combination of innocent Boyish Allure and acid tongued wit of Bueller from Texanomaly (linked at right) Although he doesn't have a pic on his blog I can assure you that he is one Beautiful Boy worthy to be a strong contender in the Pageant!

May The Hottest Blogger Win!

A Night at the Diva's....

No. 2 in a series of 4 Diva Posters for 2005, this one feauturing Drag King Sexy Galexy

So here I find myself finally updating my blog after a few days of quiet sulking over the fact that Kerri Anne was a no-show at the Diva's this year. Instead they played some lame video message from her at the beginning of the evening apologizing for not being able to make it, putting my sad ass needs aside though it was an incredible night and one that made me really happy to be in a community full so much vision and talent that make the Diva Awards the spectacle that they are.
My Night started with a visit to my mums apartment to get ready with the help of her flatmate and superstar stylist Alan. Alan is a great friend of my mum's and it was pretty cool priviledge to have George Michael's (amongst others) personal stylist help me out with what to wear. Now I'm not one that is big on labels but he gave me an obscenely expensive jacket matched with an even more osbscenely priced pair of shoes to wear on the night and I gotta say the way some of those clothes feel to wear do a damn fine job of sucking you into justifying the ridiculous mark-up on them, but who needs to buy when you have Alan :).

Looking out from mum's apartment

So I arrived at my first Diva's feeling like a million bucks and proceeded to lap up the night, the Shows were original and inspiring and the outfits were amazing but the best part of the night was seeing a friend, Paul Dillon get a very well deserved award for outstanding achievement in the community for his work over the years on the Mardi Gras Party Committee and more recently his tireless efforts on Drug Education and awareness.

After the awards it was onto the "Bitch or Boast" after-party at ARQ Nightclub and it was one hell of a fun night, I of course had to completely write myself off as I was so devastated about not seeing KAK - so much of the latter part of the night is a blur but one that wont be forgotten anytime soon.
Sorry about the lack of photos but the night was spent just enjoying the moment and trying to play arouund with a camera just didnt come into play.

Looking At Los Angeles...

Whilst on a regular visit to Ariel Books today I came across the most amazing new book, "Looking At Los Angeles" is a visual journey through LA and the list of photographers that have captured the images in the book truly reads like a who's who of great American photography.

The thing that I really love about this book is the way it perfectly represents so many of the reasons why I love Los Angeles , The photographs wallow in the emotional and physical dichotomy that is LA and while flipping through the book it brought me to skim on so many of the extreme emotions that I feel when I am there....overwhelming experiences of happiness and contentment but also detachment and sadness. For me everything in LA is so heightened and anywhere that forces you to touch on yourself where you normally wouldn't has gotta be a healthy thing it may not always be pleasant but FUCK it makes you feel alive!

This would have to be one of my favorite images from the book, "A castle in Disneyland" by Dianne Arbus (1962) A rarely seen photograph showing Sleeping Beauty's Castle in a distinctivley dark Film Noir style. I had not seen this picture until today and instantly fell in love with it.

My City By Night....

I took these photos on my walk home from work last night. After the most incredible summer-like weather during all day on Sunday it continued on late into the evening so I took my time walking back to enjoy the warm breeze passing though the empty city scape.

I pass though the city on my walk to and from work everyday and it was nights like last night that made me appreciate how lucky I am to live in a place that indulges me so much in its aesthetic beauty while I gather my thoughts during my daily travels.

A Symbol of Equality..and the lack of it.

On Saturday morning I went to Victoria Park and planted a pink heart to commemorate the unfortunate first anniversary of the Federal same sex marriage ban. This visual statement was an event organised by the Gay and Lesbian rights lobby who have successfully led the fight for a number of significant reforms and legislative reforms in Australia including:

The introduction of anti-vilification legislation in 1993
Relationship law reform for same-sex couples in NSW in 1999
The equalisation of the age of consent for gay males in 2003
Superannuation reform in 2004

The Lobby has also been at the forefront of the fight for social justice for lesbians and gay men, achieving the following:

Establishing the Anti-Violence project, to combat violence against lesbians and gay men
Lobbying for the introduction of Gay and Lesbian Liason Officers in police stations across NSW
Lobbying for a Gay and Lesbian Liason Officer in the Attorney-Generals department.

Although the institution of Gay Marriage is not something I can see myself getting personally ensconced by anytime soon it certainly does not make the fight for basic equal rights in regards to this issue any less important. Attending and supporting efforts like this one is the least I can do to honour those in the generations before me who fought so hard to pave the way for the level of acceptance that we enjoy now everyday without a care.

We clearly though still have battles to win and while the attendance levels on Saturday were not as high as they could have been it was still a great event to participate and contribute to while having a good catch up with friends as well. One of those friends I caught up with was Margeaux who has just written a terrific post covering the morning with some cool photos as well that can be found on his blog at www.dwatson.com.

In this weeks Issue of the Sydney Star Observer...

My personal needs and desires aside, I am NOT going to turn Californication into some fucked up weirdo shrine to Kerri-Anne Kennerley. Still I can't resist posting the article that David saw in this weeks Sydney Star Observer (one of Sydney's gay Newspapers linked at right) that prompted him to alert me to her upcoming appearance at the Diva Awards next week.....

Kerri-Anne to frock up for DIVA
By Ian Gould
Sydney Star Observer
Issue 777
Published 11/08/2005
One DIVA will meet another when daytime television queen Kerri-Anne Kennerley frocks up for the Drag Industry Variety Awards later this month.
DIVA organisers this week told Sydney Star Observer Kennerley would be making a “special appearance” at the Star City Showroom ceremony on 22 August, but were tight-lipped on specifics.
Even if she remains an observer, the one-time nightclub singer can expect antics at the award night, according to first-time DIVA hostess Cleopatra Coupé.
Coupé, who will steer the 2005 ceremony alongside Mitzi Macintosh and Courtney Act, said comedy, bitchiness and “definite fireworks” were in store for DIVA punters this year.
“One thing we have done very differently from previous years of DIVA is that we are trying to make it as funny and entertaining as we possibly can,” she told the Star.
And while the DIVA comperes aren’t scheduled to perform, Coupé didn’t rule out a late grab at on-stage glory.
“You never know – Courtney and I could end up having a sing-off before the end.”
Coupé and Macintosh are nominated in several categories at the drag awards night, for shows they appeared in together as well as for individual efforts.
“Mitzi’s nominated in almost every category … and it’ll be interesting to see if I beat her or she beats me,” Coupé said, raising the prospect of an on-stage stoush.
“You can expect definite fireworks – maybe not from me, but I tell you what: last year Mitzi wasn’t happy when I beat her [for Show Of The Year – 3 Or Less], so if it happens this year it could be very interesting on stage.”
Drag queen rivalries aside, Coupé said DIVA 2005 would feature a new take on local showgirls’ talent.
“All the girls are working together, and often in combinations you don’t [usually] get to see,” she said.
“It’s a great night to really say thank you … and also to show off just all the stuff we can do that we may not be able to do weekly in a pub.”
Public voting for the 2005 Drag Industry Variety Awards is on Saturday 20 August at the Oxford Hotel, Darlinghurst. The 2005 DIVA are on 22 August from 8pm at Star City Showroom. Tickets cost $97. For bookings call 9266 4800 or visit the Ticketek website

All Love Is Equal...

Krazy about Kerri-Anne!!

My Excitement for the day today was receiving a phonecall from my friend David to alert me to the fact that the First Lady of Australian TV and our favorite obsession (when we're bored!), -The Quintessential Kerri Anne Kennerley is going to be appearing at the Diva Awards - to which we are attending next Monday night.
On hearing this electrifying news I nearly shat myself at the prospect of having an audience with KAK (as she is known affectionately in the biz) and I think this will serve as David's and I's chance to finally meet her up close and personal as we have had a few near miss encounters in the past but have always failed to take full advantage of the situation.

The first one for me was when I would have been about 6 years old and Kerri Anne came to my School for a live broadcast of the show "Good Morning Australia" which she co-hosted at the time. It was for one of those "feel good"/local interest filler segments and Kerri-Anne was accompanied by a huge block of ice - "a special delivery straight from the North Pole" that contained letters from Santa (who our class had all written to a couple of weeks before hand) But even with the excitement of us all taking turns with a hammer to break the block and retrieve our letters, I personally found the smashing of the cold translucent brick a rather lacklustre experience. One that paled in comparison to being able to bask in the glow of Kerri-Annes undisputable combination of high voltage glamour and "Star Quality", Traits that I was completely arrested by at the time and for many days after (can you tell I had a sheltered childhood up until this point??) .
This was the experience that planted the seed for a life long and completely mundane interest in the enigma of Kerri-Anne.

Then for what seemed like an eternity nothing .......... until last year.

Sitting down in a sold out audience at the State Theatre, waiting to see the Sydney leg of Joan Rivers latest tour "Broke and Alone", who should come and sit down in the row directly behind us but Kerri Anne!! I was completely unaware of this until David gripped onto my arm tightly and whispered in my ear in a very stern voice "KERRI ANNE!!!!!.......BEHIND US!!!!" which was spoken in the same manner of trying to tell someone that some assailant is about to press a 9MM into the back of their neck. I remember sitting in that Theatre ridgid with concentration as I tried to keep my head at an angle to eavesdrop on the conversation held between Kerri Anne and her two Female companions, hoping to hear tales of dirty insider celebrity gossip, marriage problems or some other piece of emotionally sensitive information ....I severely lost out . Instead they indulged me while reminiscing over their trip to Vegas they took for NYE 1999 to see Streisand at MGM and they themselves trying to get an audience with her as they attempted to talk themselves past security to get to Streisand's post show cocktails (the celebrity food chain in action I thought to myself).

Then only a few months later David and I spotted her once again at a Movie Premiere post-party and I still cant quite figure out why we did not approach her that night, she was in a captive room mingling around, we were drinking and she was there..come to think of it I think we were still too busy being offended by the shit movie we had just seen......The vision of Kerri-Anne afterwards did bring some redemption to the night though.
So I think next Monday night will be the moment David and I have been waiting for. We have some big plans in the pipeline for Kerri-Anne - we are pretty serious about making sure they come to fruition as well so I'm not going to reveal them on here for now but I think this will be our chance to at least bask again in the High Glamour that is the quintessential Kerri-Anne Kennerley!!

Somebody kill me.........please.

American Idle..

The Photograph below was my entry for Richard's "American Idol - Tattoo version" over at Proceed at your own Risk (linked at the right) Turns out that he only got 3 entries in total and when the other two chickened out I was the only one left. I was really surprised to be honest, ..clearly guys are more willing to show their butt cracks than their Tatt's as proved by the overwhelming response to the previous Ass Crack edition of American Idol. When submitting my pic I seriously was not even sure if it would make it onto the site, it was more-so an exercise for me to start putting myself on the line a bit more and attack my shyness - for the same reasons this Blog is here.
Still Richard gave me a plug over at his fantastic site and has let me know to inform him if I score any dates out of it!

The Seven Deadly Sins No.1 of 7 "Vanity"

Today the first of a series of seven posters to promote Sleaze Ball 2005 was released, There is going to be a poster for each of the Seven Deadly Sins and I will post each one up every Friday until the last one is released just before the October long weekend Event.
After last weekend the last thing I want to think about is going to another big party but if the rest of the posters are as great as this one I think I'll be very excited at the prospect by the time it hits October the 1st.

Back to reality....

So Life and my brain is starting to to make a return back to reality after a pretty amazing weekend!.
On Sunday I went to the latest installment of the phenomenal Toybox Parties and this one in mine and many other's opinions was the best one yet in the series of events held at the Metro Theatre. In a time where you tend to get a lot of the crowd at Dance Parties and Circuit events taking themselves a bit too seriously Toybox breaks the mould creating an environment where it's impossible not to be infected by the playful and irreverent mood of the party, all while being treated to some of the most sophisticated production elements of Lighting, Music, and sound your going to find anywhere on the Planet.

The Main room at full throttle!!

One of my favorite aspects of this Party was the Introduction of a petting zoo in the chill-out area with a cute little lattice pen holding an assortment of Sheep, Lambs and Chickens while Drag personality Maxi shield dressed as Little Bo Peep demonstrated with a Butcher's Chart the different cuts of meat available from the selected animals on offer...CUTE!!!.
After the explosive finale of the Party I headed out later on with David to Catch up with Margeaux and Damon at the Shift for a bit of a Dance and a chance to reflect on all the days happenings. As David had to work the next day Margeaux and I stayed out and moved onto ARQ where where we kicked on till the daylight hours having a memorable night of great conversation in the booth and a good dose of dancefloor madness.
Once I got home I only had a little time for a quick rest and recharge before it was time to head up to Palm Beach for a fun filled Recovery Party. Palm Beach is to Sydney what the Hamptons are to New York and the location for this Party has gotta be one of the most spectacular properties on the Palm Beach Peninsula. It was a really special time spent with friends here and the wide open spaces proved to be a welcome setting after the dark and smoky club environs, Not a bad way to end the weekend at all.....
