The Trip so far....

As I pack my bags to fly from Vegas to San Francisco this afternoon I thought I'd do a quick update to the blog. The trip so far has been absolutely amazing!, as I reflected earlier with my travel buddies by the pool this morning this Holiday has been full of so many firsts and I've been able to tick off so many boxes of things I have always wanted to do or see.

LA was so good to me (as it always is!) and it was a thrill to share what I love about the city with a friend from childhood who's travelling with me who had never been before. We did all my usual favorite haunts and discovered a few new ones as well.

We drove to Las Vegas on Monday on a brilliant blue sky day with the top down on our car through some beautiful desert scenery before arriving in this city that I still cant work out whether I'm overwhelmed or underwhelmed by yet.

I can't say I hate it because I've hugely enjoyed and have been moved by the shows here and as of last night this crazy city indulged me in a fantasy that even in my wildest dreams I would never have imagined ever happening to me - I would LOVE to dish more but I just can't, I will say that it will go down as one of the hottest scenarios I have ever found myself in and one that I will never ever forget.

as more more firsts I'm looking forward to finding myself in San Francisco this afternoon and hitting Folsom Street Fair this weekend and I'm sure there will be no shortage of unforgettable experiences there too.

Tonight I attended a pretty boring body corporate meeting for an apartment building in Potts Point, the saving grace was the edition of this beautiful Clement Meadmore sculpture that the owners had on display in their apartment. It was stunning and I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost while my eyes glazed over it.

Melbourne Art Fair

On Wednesday I flew down to Melbourne to attend Vernissage, the opening night preview of the Melbourne Art Fair, It was quick trip but it was an amazing experience to get to see so many established and up and coming Artists unveil their new works all under the one and very grand roof of the Exhibition Palace.
I also used the trip as a chance to check out the Art Deco Exhibition on show at the NGV which was absolutely superb - I knew it was going to be in impressive exhibition purely by the fact that it's been the most popular show held in the history of the V & A Museum in London who put it together but as a bonus there were some pieces on display that I was not expecting to see at all such as the beautiful (and rare!!) furniture from the french design duo of Sue et Mare whom I'm a very big fan of and some pretty spectacular jewels on loan from Cartier's archives that I'd read about before so that was a great thrill.

So I've finally got the the internet hooked up in my pad so I thought I'd take the opportunity to post some pics of the gorgeous sunset I captured a few shots of from my window on Thursday evening.

I've been working my butt off lately but I'm looking forward to a break this week when I fly down to Melbourne on Wednesday for Vernissage the opening night preview of the Melbourne Art Fair . I'm really looking forward to it as two of my favorite contemporary Australian artists Lindey Ivimey and Penny Byrne will be unveling new works there and I'm sure Ill discover many other works to love as well.

I'll be taking my camera along with me so Ill be posting a few pics of it and whatever else I get up to down south as well...

It's been a while since I have been able to give the blog any attention but I'm still here and since my recent nauseatingly over-dramatic post where I put a need for change in my life out there I've gotten a pretty big chunk of what I wanted in the following weeks, So I guess it always pays to ask for what you want!.
While there's still more improvements needed (as always is at any stage) life's pretty good and at the moment I'm keeping a pretty low profile while I focus on my trip to the States in September. I even gave the Inquisition party a miss opting to stay in with friends for some quality catch up time and a few movies.

Overstimulated, overwhelmed and emotionally raw, I feel the presence of bigger things tugging at me and while I can only blindly guess their origins or purpose whatever is going on is having a strong effect that I cannot ignore, to liken it to being on a roller coaster would be an understatement.

I've just entered my 27th year and March is never a pleasant period for me at the best of times, not because I have any hang ups about getting older but a sadness extends from the facts that look at me dead in the face every time it rolls around to whats meant to be this supposedly special day.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a person who wallows in self pity or unhappiness - its one of the ugliest of virtues. The rest of the year I have so much to be happy and grateful for but you cant have the ups without the downs, mine just seem to be at the more extreme ends.

This year is different and I feel very aware of these energies putting me though my paces and making me take a good hard look at everything that surrounds me. I'm ashamed to say that I have been already been aware of it for some time but I'm finally facing the facts of the massive drain fear has on the possible paths I could be setting sail on.
I don't "feel" fearful of anything on a day to day basis yet all I have to do is look at the setting of where I have worked for the past 4 years for 1 example: a safe plush existence but for the first time I'm realising that its my fear in the grandest of manifestations - tangible, 3 dimensional mortar and pestle tough! - This is not a criticism of my place of work- It's of me being safe for too long. I know I'm the type where "the ambition far outweighs the talent" but even I was the opposite, the combination is just as lacking.

I'm holding back because of fear: If my mind is going though the loops of fear I might as well take the chances that I need to take because I'm sitting here acting in fear regardless.

Apologies for going all Dr Fucking Phil here - No, fuck apologies! but this post in itself is a very small baby step in the way I need to go to get the changes that I want.

Olivia Newton John's 4am (peak time!) performance of Xanadu at Mardi Gras Party was definitely on the the highlights (that i'm willing to talk about on this blog!) of the past weekend..

I was about ten people back from the stage in the centre of the dancefloor and 'll never forget the energy and cheering in the hall as Olivia made her entrance, it was enough to lift the roof of the place!

This video is kinda shaky at the start but it's worth a watch!

I never thought I'd see the day when a Mardi Gras Party Poster would have an IKEA logo on it unless it was for the purpose of some twisted satire which unfortunately is not the case here.

Ill leave my criticisms at that for it doesn't sit well with me to bitch about the state of something that if I chose to I could actively get involved with and contribute to change.

I am looking forward to this one though, it's been a few years since I last went to Mardi Gras Party but with the promise of their 30th Anniversary being a big one and quite a few friends from overseas being in town for the festivities it's time to give it another look in and if there is any truth to the word going around it may be the last as we know it - So enjoy it while it lasts!!

After a big night on Friday my weekend was fairly low key but on Sunday I did manage to meet with Drew and his boy for a twilight dinner at the fabulous Gazebo Wine Garden in Elizabeth Bay.
We had a great catch up and Drew and I thoroughly enjoyed the view facing back into the restaurant as there was no shortage of hot straight boys to check out.
The highlight was one stunner in particular who was sitting down fairly close to us in that way that only straight guys sit with their legs wide open while continually needing to "re-adjust". The event that really piqued our interest though was when his girlfriend decided to sit (grind) on his lap giving him an extremely obvious V.P.L!! (visible penis line)

I really felt for Drew's boy who was unfortunately seated in the wrong direction looking back out towards the park so he had to deal with our pervy running commentary of it all!

The Weekend Kick Off...

I enjoyed a fairly chilled out weekend, On Friday evening I went to the opening of the Sidney Nolan Retrospective at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, it was pretty cool as we were able to view the exhibition before it officially opened due to the fact that the friend who took me along had loaned out 2 paintings from his own personal collection to be included in the exhibition.
For someone who loves Art as much as I do it was was a truly amazing experience to be able to wander through the galleries alongside a handful of serious Benefactors, Tycoons and National Treasure's while viewing a few of Nolan's greatest masterpieces - some which have never been publicly seen before while quietly getting to soak up the brilliance of his works with a glass of Champagne before the usual opening night crowd came in.

I highly recommend seeing this show, especially for the highlights of viewing some of the rarely seen Kelly paintings from the MOMA's collection, also the epic Riverbend series on show for the first time in its entirety in a purpose built room with curved walls so it can be hung as originally intended by Sidney.

Life around the Harbour

One of the best qualities that Sydney offers to those who live here is the ease of access to an abundance of really amazing locations around the harbour and coastline, that once reached make you slip into the mode of being on holidays in no time even though you have only travelled for 5-10 minutes out the CBD.

I caught up with my friend Howard today and as the day was fairly overcast to begin with we arranged to meet for lunch in Potts Point. (as opposed to North Bondi where we normally would head to catch some sun and waves.) Within minutes after sitting down the clouds were parting and the weather was starting to really heat up so Howard suggested we make the most of it and head down to Red Leaf Beach on Sydney Harbour.

Within minutes after a quick stop at my place to grab a towel and throw on the swimmers we were down by the water soaking up the surroundings. After warming up in the sun we walked out to the edge of the pier, Howard dived - with expert precision!, I just jumped of the edge before we both swam back in to shore completely invigorated.

It's funny that the Amazing Howard finds himself here on the blog as its the reason how I came to know him in the first place, a good while back I was at a party at Home Night Club and he recognised me from this blog due to the fact that he's a New York ex-pat who is friends with Juan from Boozhy and Oliver, Scott's ex-boyfriend.
It's been a true gift that he came up and said Hello as he's a great guy who has been an absolute pleasure to get to know and spend time with, much like my other friend Drew whom I've met as a result of the blog.

So there's no denying I have been absolutely slack with this blog but as discussed with Drew over a quiet dinner on Monday night I can get pretty anxious about making a posting sometimes.... I shouldn't though, It's a little pompous to assume that people are reading it with great interest anyway so I shouldn't be worried about self editing so much when thinking about adding a post.

Life has been great lately, I moved into my own place in Elizabeth Bay 3 weeks ago and living on my own for the first time is definitely agreeing with me. It's one of the best things I have done in a long time and the way it has improved my outlook on living in Sydney has been fairly dramatic.

My friend Rob is up from Melbourne for the weekend so last night we went and checked out the Sydney Art Fair and as expected a large percentage of the works for sale from various galleries around Australia were serious vomit material!.
There were some cool works from the more serious galleries who had decided to show there but there was not much of it in comparison to the bad stuff - still it was a bit of fun and the fact that it was held in a harshly lit RHI where many of my greatest Mardi Gras Party memories have taken place made for an odd addition to the whole experience.

Looking forward to stopping by the "Halloween Whores" party at the Burdekin Hotel tonight, Ill be able to catch up with a few good friends whom its been way too long since I saw them last with Margeaux ,Drew and his boy expected to be dropping in.

As mentioned in the previous post and here , the surprise visit from Drew and his Boy at my place made for a really fun afternoon!.
Up until last Sunday my experience of Drew in the real world had been quite limited since our first meeting at Toybox in the Hordern on New Years day this year, but Thanks to a very special friend whom I have known since we were in Primary School together Drew and his Boy found themselves over here for a fun Sunday Recovery.

Not only did I learn that Drew is not as Innocent as I naively once thought but I also got a great sense of whom he is and he is an endearing character indeed!

I know it's completely boring to talk about the weather but Sydney received a early taste of Summer today with a warm break from all the cold Winter temperatures the city has been experiencing. I swear I must suffer from seasonal dysfunction because the great weather made me realise how dramatically it can uplift my mood and general being, simply by being sunny and warm. I am definitely NOT a Winter person...unless there is a snow and a snowboard involved!.

Anyway here are some shots that I took in warmer days of the past that remind me of what makes summer so great to me. This park is right near my apartment and its a great spot to catch some sun and chill out if I time doesn't allow a trip to Bondi Beach which is my favorite hangout every Summer.

The 2007 Diva's (Drag industry Variety Awards) were launched last week at the Stonewall Hotel along with this years poster starring Minnie Cooper. This years theme is "Diva Night Fever" and If you have not attended the Diva's before don't wait another year to do it as it's an event the Sydney gay community really has to be proud of with its over the top glamour and slick production values. The after party and the after after party "Brunch with the Ladies" is always a riot as well so I suggest you get tickets while they are still available because its a truly fabulous night out!

To say I am behind on the times with this one is an understatement since it was created in 2005 but it came to my attention while watching the amazing new series Artland USA that has just premiered on the Ovation channel.
The series shot in HD is an extended road movie which takes the viewer across the United States featuring the best Art and Architecture to be found along the way with a few bits of bizarre Americana thrown in.

Anyway today's episode featured the Prada Marfa Sculpture located on a desolate stretch of Highway 90, 40 Kilometres outside the small town of Marfa with a population of 2,400.

The permanent installation by the Berlin artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset is meant to look like a Prada store, with minimalist white stucco walls and a window display housing real Prada shoes and handbags from the fall collection. But there is no working door.
Miuccia Prada had given the artists the permission to use her trademark for the work. She also picked out the shoes.

This is such a great sculpture, Among the different interpretations that come from the work It gives an interesting statement as a Mirage of the modern day consumer, fuck food and water when you can be well heeled, It will only make you fat anyway!

Ok so I've been tagged by Superdrewby - who I had the pleasure of meeting on the dance floor at Toybox on New Years Day so I guess it's fitting that I outline my goals here for 2007.

The first goal has already started to be achieved and that was giving up Alcohol and cigarettes which I have done 100 percent successfully since New Years day. I was neither a big smoker or a big drinker - I pretty much only smoked when I was out partying and socially with friends but I knew it was something that I didn't wanna see myself doing long term as it always adds up.
I decided to give up the booze as I really want to work hard on gaining size this year and there aren't many things more toxic for your testosterone production than Alcohol so it had to go and to be honest I don't miss it one bit!, It is strange now if I go out with friends I find myself being super aware of alcohol on people's breathe and how differently I perceive people who are drinking when I'm the sober one.

don't worry though.........I'm not giving up the hard drugs!! Kidding!!

So now I have removed the elements that aren't conducive to getting bigger that brings me to my other goal which is to gain some size this year, I've been getting bigger each year but I'd like to see a more dramatic size increase through out this year so I'm really going to work hard at the gym on that.

Superficial physical stuff aside I am also returning to study this year and my goal is to get honors in at least 3 of the subjects I will be studying which I know is going to take some real focus and dedication to ensure I achieve this but I know I'll be able to pull it off.

So overall my "goals and objectives" for 2007 is to achieve synergy between my mind and body and have them performing and functioning just as well as the other.

Yet AGAIN It's been a while since my last post but working two jobs most days does not leave much time for anything else that doesn't include sleeping. My two job stint has wound up now and I'm back to my normal working hours so It's been a great chance to catch up with friends and just chill out a bit.

unfortunately the beach weather has not been that great of late but it has given me the chance to throw myself into some good books at home and I'm currently powering though "The God Delusion" by the celebrated Oxford biologist Richard Dawkins and I have no doubt that it's one of the greatest books I'll ever have the pleasure of laying my eyes on!.

If you aren't familiar with Richard Dawkins he is hailed one of the most influential Scientists of our time and in the God Delusion he turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes. He critiques God in all his forms, from the sex-obsessed tyrant of the Old Testament to the more benign (but still illogical) Celestial Watchmaker favored by some Enlightenment thinkers. He eviscerates the major arguments for religion and demonstrates the supreme improbability of a supreme being. He shows how religion fuels war, foments bigotry, and abuses children, buttressing his points with historical and contemporary evidence. In so doing, he makes a compelling case that belief in God is not just irrational, but potentially deadly. Dawkins has fashioned an impassioned, rigorous rebuttal to religion, to be embraced by anyone who sputters at the inconsistencies and cruelties that riddle the Bible, bristles at the inanity of "intelligent design," or agonizes over fundamentalism in the Middle East or Middle America.

Seriously I can't rave on enough about this book but unfortunatelyy I fear that if your reading this blog in the first place you will find that Dawkins is preaching to the choir! None the less it's a compelling read and I suggest getting a copy for any Christian fundamentalist whack jobs that you may know!

Faith in the Future....

So there's been a trend of late on a few of the blogs I read where the bloggers have been making a list of things they would tweak or change in their lives if they had the chance to go back and get second chance at re-living it.

I like another one of my favorite bloggers Superdrewby share a different view to this concept as I can honestly say there is nothing I would change. This is not to say that my life has been a perfect example of how one should live or there has not been a time where I didn't want to be in my own skin.

There has been no shortage of fuck ups and I like everyone else have experienced some really shit times either due to my own undoings or others but as much as I hated the bad experiences while they were happening to me in retrospect I'm glad they happened because I was capable of moving beyond it and having the experiences push me to where I am today which is still not perfect but a pretty sweet place full of some pretty special and inspiring people (so special I sometime's have to wonder why the fuck would they bother with me! ) and we know how to enjoy the good times when they are there.

So following in Drew's path I'm going to look forward and list a few of the things that I plan to do and Achieve in my lifetime...Some of them are NOT going to be listed here but below are the ones that I'm happy to share in no particular order.

1. Live in LA. Once I am here I'm going to have a dog and an old Benz dishtop convertible and I'll be a very happy man indeed.

3. live life completely free of assumption, unfortunately I constantly amaze myself at how much of my thoughts or opionions are based on assumptions when I don't know the real story. This is something that I'm really working on changing. It's not about having to know everything or needing to be right..If I don't know something that's fine but I shouldn't be making assumptions on the subject or person if this is the case and I cannot be confident in what I'm saying to be the truth.

4. Own a Ducatti, This will be parked in the garage next to the old Mercedes.

5. Do the roadtrip of my dreams and drive across America

6. See Courtney Love perform live and up close, Hopefully I'll be able to tick this one off the list next year when she tours following the release of her new Album in February.

7. Fly in a private Jet, This one used to be fly First Class and I got to do that earlier this year when I had the pleasure of Flying Qantas First Class from Sydney to Bangkok, now that I have got that one out of the way I need to aim for the next step up which is the experience of Private jet travel!, and while I'm on the subject of obnoxious wishes can I get a little greedier in saying that not only do I want to fly in a private jet but I want to Fuck in one as well!

8. Own a recording studio, ok so this is the craziest pipe dream one but who ever got anywhere by only having goals that they were confident in knowing that they could be achieved. I have no idea how this one will come to fruition but I'm taking the first steps to get there by writing this down in the first place! I guess this stems from my own lack of musical talent and the respect and awe I have for people who are gifted in this area so the next best thing is to have a recording studio that will inspire artists to lay down their best.

10. Be confident in the fact that I let my friends know how much I love them.

A few of the above are obviously in the more shallow end of my pool of plans and aspiritions but I dont wanna go too fucking Oprah on you all and list out all of what could be percieved as the more "meaningful" ones! I gotta have some secrets!

I'm glad that she has made it this far and I am counting down the days till I get to listen to her new album "How dirty girls get clean" which is due for release next year (Once the bidding war stops over which record company is gonna get to release what is rumored to be Courtney's greatest work yet)

I was down in Melbourne for the weekend and one of my friends who lives down there has this amazing trio of Snow globes who are the work of Australian artist Fiona Hall. I've always really admired them especially this one titled "Lair" depicting the White House in Washington surrounded by sand bags and crumbling under the weight of 3 dogs - an English Poodle representing Tony Blair, an American Pitbull representing George Bush and a Australian Blue Heeler representing John Howard all trying to hump each other while one cocks up his leg to take a piss while precariously balancing over some rotting drums of toxic waste.

Personally I think this is a massive injustice to the Pitbull and Blue Heeler and I know Scott over at Bill In Exile would strongly agree but that aside it is a great "Fuck off" piece of Art work. This one was released in 2004 so I am pretty excited that I got myself down on the waiting list for one at the Gallery where they occasionally turn up.

It's Wednesday night here in Sydney and I'm finally starting to feel that life is resuming back into "normal transmission"(whatever that is!!) after the Weekend.

There wasn't many area's that I didn't cover over the Labour Day long weekend...

Jumping out of a tiny 2 seater Cessna aircraft at 14'000 Ft (one of the best things I have ever done! gonna do the course so I can go solo next time!)

Going to see "I am my own wife" at the Sydney Opera House - a play about German transvestite Charlotte von Mahlsdorf's story of survival while living in Nazi occupied East Germany. Completely compelling and one of the best pieces of Theatre I have ever seen.

Going to Sleaze Ball at Fox Studios on Saturday night and getting completely MUNTED!

Going onto Friends places afterwards and getting even more munted.

Going to Home Nightclub with Tony Moran at the decks and digging my hole deeper!

Finishing it all of with an Amazing set from Manny Lehman for his Australian Debut at the Shift on Sunday night then it was finally home to knock it all on the head with a zanax and a good lie down on Monday morning.

I have a deadline due tomorrow for a Party review of Homesexual with Tony Moran that I've been asked to write for a new Magazine coming out so I better get back to it!

It's been a while since I last posted here but after enjoying Sydney's first weekend of Spring I felt inspired to get back to blogging again....

It's not like nothing exciting has been happening of late, I have had some really AMAZING experiences over the past few months - a lot of them happening while celebrating my friend Rob's epic 7 day 40th Birthday Party in Singapore and Koh Samui in Thailand. Everything from feeding elephants on the beach to having sex in the ocean at a balmy 3 am in the morning and an unforgettable night of dancing barefoot on the beach with a few thousand people at the Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan - Moments that will stay with me for the rest of my life!.

I'm back at work now and with the weather starting to warm up already Sydney's going to be in for one hot Summer - I cant wait!!!

I cant say that I have ever been the type to wanna buy a doll before but the Amanda Lepore doll which is being launched tonight (Tuesday the 11th of April) at Jeffrey New York is one that I cant pass up!

The doll designed and produced by Jason Wu of integrity toys (who produced the Ru Paul Doll) is a limited edition release of 3 different variations of Amanda, the David Barton Gym work out doll, Fairytail Glam as well as couture baby Amanda (Shown in the sketches below) will be available only from Jeffrey New York with all proceeds going towards the Design Industry foundation fighting AIDS.

The Downside is they have all sold out already while they were being previewed at the store in the past week with rumours stating that another batch will be produced shortly to keep up with the strong demand so I'll stay hopeful.

Australia enters into the Ice Age....

While Crystal Meth use in Australia is a relatively new trend when compared to the United States the devastating effect on hardcore users remains universal. ABC televisions current affairs show "Four Corners" this week aired a report titled "The Ice Age" which was a pretty shocking close up study on the more extreme end of the Crystal Meth problem in Australia.

While the spectrum of the users they interviewed for the report is a narrow one and dives into the more lower class end of the pool (and that's being extremely diplomatic!) it still makes for pretty interesting viewing (It's not like those High Court Judges or well respected Doctor's are gonna be willing to air their crystal habit's to the masses out there anyway!)

I had heard some news a while back about the new E3 Visa for Australians wanting to work in the US but until reading this article in this weekend's Sydney Morning Herald I had not realized how relatively simple the process was to obtain one. Its fantastic news for me and It's something I'll be definitely pursuing without question!

I guess now I cant bitch TOO much about the Australian government brown nose-ing right up George Bush's ass - It might just appear to have it's pay-offs.

America's arms are now open to young workers from

the very deep south, writes Mark Coultan.

PENSIRI KELLER is among the first of a new breed of Australians. At 24, she is working in New York courtesy of an extremely generous concession from the United States which no other country has been granted.

She was one of the first Australians to get a new visa which bypasses many of the restrictions the US places on foreigners wanting to work.

The new visa, called an E3, was passed by Congress last year as a benefit of the free-trade agreement. It allows 10,500 Australians each year the right to work in the US.

Australia is the only country in the world to have such a generous concession.

This year there is a worldwide cap of 65,000 normal H-1B work visas. Other countries with free-trade agreements - Singapore and Chile - have received small quotas which come out of the total cap on work visas.

The E3 visa's conditions are also very lenient. Unlike normal business work visas, Australian applications are not referred to the Department of Homeland Security, a process which can take months.

Although the applicant's stay in the US must be temporary, the two-year visas are renewable indefinitely, effectively making them the next best thing to a Green Card.
And solving a common bugbear for expatriates, spouses of E3 holders can work, and neither spouses nor their children are counted in the 10,500. One of the few restrictions on the E3 visa is that applicants have to be sponsored by an employer, and have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree or specialised knowledge.

Bill Stanton, charge d'affaires of the US embassy in Canberra, says he is very encouraged by the interest from Australian professionals, particularly in accounting, engineering and law, who have already taken advantage of the new visa.

But the 10,500 quota may well prove to be overly generous. Since it came into effect in September, only 492 Australians have been granted one. The slow take-up rate is partly explained by its newness.

The last US census showed there were only 78,000 Australians living in the US, with about 41,000 working. So an extra 10,500 per year would represent a considerable increase. It would also mean a big increase on current levels of business migration. Only 900 Australians got a standard work visa in 2004. But the new visa may, over time, lead to the US being as popular as England for Australians looking to work overseas.

So I guess you could say this post is a little late coming!, I've been REALLY busy lately and between moving into a gorgeous apartment on the harbour in Elizabeth Bay and having an extremely busy period at work the blog has not fared well within my time management skills.

I'm settled in and loving my new place now and work is still pretty busy but with some cool things coming up I'll have plenty to blog about over the next few weeks.

Next weekend I'm flying down to Melbourne with Ian to see Stevie Nicks live in concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra then the following week there's friends flying in from the States for the Mardi Gras festivities and with parties like Azure -a Party by the harbour in the Royal Botanical Gardens with a view to die for and the always mindblowing Toybox at Luna Park - the official Mardi Gras afterparty there's alot to look forward to.

I've exceeded my bandwidth with Photobucket this month so will be upgrading my account shortly so I can have pics back up again asap.

Had a blast at the Bad Dog Party last night, really amazing crowd and atmosphere with a style you wouldn't find anywhere else.

After Bad Dog headed back to a friends place to watch Brokeback Mountain, It still has not opened here in Australia but it was really refreshing to see that the film hit me hard with force after feeling like I already knew it like the back of my hand just from reading so many of the blogs of note out there that have immersed themselves in "Broke Back Fever"

Back to work now but will write more later.....

Objects of Desire - The Smoke Chair

The Smoke chair by Moooi has been around for some time now but It's never failed to catch my eye and my imagination during one of my regular surfs at www.moooi.com - one of my favorite drool worthy sites when admiring cutting edge furniture design.

Designed by Maarten Baas in 2002 this chair is really unlike anything else out there due to the fact that one of the final treatments in the production process is setting the chair on fire before being finished with epoxy to capture the beauty and character of burnt wood in the final product. .

Apart from the Smoke Chair just being insanely beautiful I also love it because of the dark and sinister qualities it evokes and I cant help but imagine how sexy it would be to have someone such as Scott from Bill in Exile (linked at the right) bent over the arm wearing only a harness to grab onto, or a beautiful boy to the likes of the French Model Roc Barbot reclining back naked on the soft black leather by a roaring marble fireplace.

Actually, I think I prefer the both of them in the chair at the same time. That would be a pretty fucking sexy vison to behold.

Guess I better start saving for one!!

So while I was busy working/jerking off on Sunday Morning, David from Planet Margeaux (linked at the Right) Instant messaged me with a discovery he just made while doing some searches on the internet. A diabolical re-working of a photo that was taken of us with Cher when we hung out with her backstage during the Sydney leg of her Farewell Tour last year.

Turns out that some deranged child found it and decided to photo shop themselves and one of their friends into our photo with Cher but of course only doing their heads and keeping our bodies with bizarre yet hilarious results.

Breaking the Sabotage....

I was reading one of my favorite Blogs yesterday, Darien's "At Worst My Best" (linked at the left) and he wrote a paragraph about his own reality that resonated strongly with me and really summed up my headspace of late.

"There has been such flatness in the energy of everything lately. Like something big is waiting to happen. Its bugging me and Im getting restless. And when I get restless I do silly things and to offset the yearning, wanting, needing."

I really couldn't have said it better myself which is why the Blog amongst other things has been neglected, It seemed that everytime I came close to posting something my self sabotage mechanism, something that I'm unfortunately pretty familiar with would kick in and I'd walk away from it.

The positive aspect of this though is the existence of that feeling that something big IS about to happen and maybe I just need to be in this lull right now so I can truly appreciate the changes when they come into effect.

I do have good things happening in my life at the moment but I cant say they would rate as interesting enough to Blog about or of a nature where I can blog about them. Unlike the more filthier blogs around I do have my facepic on here!

I guess I just need to enjoy the moment I'm in now instead of ignoring it while I'm searching for the fast forward button into the future.

Last Night.....

Here are some shots I took during New Years Eve on Sydney Harbour last night, I did some work at a big straight dance party at Luna Park which proved to be extremely exhausting but also heaps of fun hanging out with lots of aggressive and disgustingly hot straight guys all night.

It's Sydney's hottest new years day on record today with a current temperature of 44 degrees Celsius (which makes it about 111.2 Fahrenheit) outside right now. There's nothing much to do except veg out in front of the fan and think about getting ready for Homesexual "New years Gay" at Home nightclub from sunset to sunrise which I'll be posting more about later.

The Road into Lake Mungo National Park

Lake Mungo - a World heritage protected area located in the outback of Northern New South Wales and one of my favorite places on the Planet is the location of an another amazing discovery. Mungo has left a permanent mark on my brain and my heart ever since a visit there for an Ancient History excursion so even though I'm sure many will find this post tedious Its my blog and I wanted to mention it here.....

Shifting sand dunes have revealed hundreds of human foot prints left by children and adolescents at the height of the last ice age at Lake Mungo National Park in the Willandra Lakes region. Dating back to around 20'000 BC these footprints left in the moist clay of the lakes shore have been perfectly preserved for thousands of years since the lake dried up around 14'000 years ago.

An analysis of the footprints in the Journal of Human Evolution has shown that most of the footprints are quite deeply impressed into the sediments, revealing toe marks, arches, heels and balls of the people's feet.
In one place a 135-centimetre tall adolescent walks at right angles to the main tracks, moving up a slope. Elsewhere, a perhaps weary child, with the second smallest footprints found, slows the group's rate of walking from five to three kilometres per hour. There are also kangaroo paw prints. "Some of the men are running and we think they're chasing something," says Webb.

One man, estimated to be 194 centimetres tall, accelerates up to 20 kilometres an hour, his pace length increasing from 1.8 metres to 1.9 metres in less than 12 metres. "The surface on which this person was running was drying mud that left detailed impressions of foot architecture, with mud oozing between the toes, and the slight heal slippage on the surface,".

The information that these fossilized footprints will reveal is astounding to say the least and the discovery has given me a great excuse to get my shit together to plan another visit to this truly amazing place.

The Dunes at Lake Mungo

The reason why my ancient history class took a trip to Mungo is because it's also home to the to the oldest known cremation in the world - Mungo Lady's remains- and the oldest known ritual burial in the world - Mungo Man's ochre-covered skeleton which were discovered in the late 60's and early 70's and have both been carbon dated to around 40'000 years old

The trip taken in Year 11 at School was my first journey deep into the Australian desert and while I can't put my finger on the emotionally overwhelming feeling I got from visiting this place it is something that I have never forgotten and have wanted to experience again ever since I left.

I guess its because It's too remote for tourists and the place is just so untouched and unaffected by times progress. Even though the lake dried up thousands of years ago the evidence of ancient life there is endless with piles of mussell shells and tools beside carbon charcoal remains of campfires lit in the tens of thousands of years ago found easily along the lunette - the remains of the lakes shore.

Lake Mungo is Australia's own East Africa, our Rift Valley and with more inevitable discoveries to be made revealing life of early man here I highly recommend checking this place out if you ever get the chance. Just don't tell the Tourists!!, and there's no crappy gift shop here anyway!!

Australian blogs will never be as hard-hitting as their overseas counterparts because of our ridiculous laws.
Many local bloggers are unaware that they may be liable for everything they write on their sites, not to mention all of the colourful comments made by contributors.
Our new sedition laws will make this worse.
Blogs fall under the same defamation and other laws that regulate all media organisations in the country.

While US bloggers are protected by a freedom of speech clause in the US Bill of Rights, new sedition laws passed by Australian authorities may make life even tougher for bloggers.
Local bloggers, even without the new laws, must be very careful about what they write."Bloggers may be liable for what's on their website as the publisher of the information," says Stephen James, a specialist in Technology Law and partner at TressCox. "I think they need to be more cautious. There is no exception in the law for internet conversations."
There have been only a few cases involving internet bloggers, but James expects more cases involving breaches of other laws.His golden rule for bloggers is: "Don't post any comment about any person that you wouldn't be happy to see about yourself.""Remember all laws, including defamation, legal obligations to keep some information confidential, providing negligent advice and even the new sedition laws may apply to bloggers," says James.

Australian bloggers have mixed views about legal issues."My site is a group blog, maintained by my partner and I," says Caz, from spinstartshere.com."We're both journalists and have a fairly good working knowledge of defamation, contempt, etc so we basically refer to our own judgement when writing."This means she has to moderate comments on her site."For example, you wouldn't believe how many times we've had people post the same unsubstantiated story about an Australian singer's cocaine habit that I'd love to keep published, but can't for legal reasons," she says.

Blogger and lawyer Quantum Meruit, says most bloggers are not aware of media law."A lot of people still don't know what blogging is, so you feel like it is almost a secret world which doesn't cross over with your real life," she says. "But, of course, there is always the potential for that real life crossover to happen."

Some bloggers say they don't care.Sam Ward from A Yobbo's View says he doesn't consider legal issues when he blogs.The legal threats Ward has received "usually come from cretins who can't even spell lawyer".He would only remove content if he felt he was in the wrong, he says."If it was just some self-important loser trying to bully me around, I'd have my day in court."

A Real Update...

So I know I was meant to update the blog the other day and I didn't but the truth is that I actually have a good excuse for it. I have been pretty miserable the last few days to be honest and this blog is meant to be full of positive and passionate musings and I guess I have found it hard to entertain those ideas when dealing with the break up of a relationship.

So out of respect for the other person involved I am not going to go into the details of why thing's between us panned out the way they did but in any case a break up is always tough and you tend to wanna lock yourself away under a blanket somewhere which is exactly what I have been doing.

So the positive twist to this post is that it's times like these is when the value of your friends become truly heightened, Margeaux who's blog is linked at right gave me a really great chin up late thursday night over a few Scotches and David and Jenny forced me to to leave the house to go and drink Gin at David's on Friday night and then a great talk on the phone with Scott from Bill in Exile (linked at right) in Seattle in the early hours of Sunday morning really lifted my spirits.

So thankyou, you all make me a very lucky guy to have you as friends and I promise there will be more posts to follow soon!!

Worth The Wait!!!

12 Years since her last album "The Red Shoes" was released Kate Bush's long awaited new double CD titled "Aerial" came out this week. To say I've been really excited about this forthcoming album would be an understatement, so it was more than great to finally get my hands on a copy when it hit the stores.
For me there's only 2 Artists around these days that I would buy an album from without at least having a listen to first but when it comes to Kate I know for sure that I'll get something truly amazing to listen to and she certainly does not disappoint with Aerial.

I know everyone else out there at the moment is obsessing over Madonna's new album but if your after something original with substance then I strongly recommend Aerial to you. In a market that's saturated in disposable Artists wallowing in thoughtless lyrics and mediocre production values this Album as like all of Kate Bush's work is a sweet breathe of fresh air that stands tall above the current woeful state of the music industry.

I have to mention my favorite track off the Album titled "Sunset" on the second CD "a sky of Honey" a heart breakingly sublime work of art that gives me goosebumps everytime and is worth buying the whole CD set for alone.

Stevie Nicks, one of the most enduring, influential and loved female artists in rock’n’roll history, is bringing her solo concert tour ‘Gold Dust’ to Australia in February next year.
Nicks and her red-hot nine-piece band led by guitar virtuoso Waddy Watchel will perform her greatest hits from Fleetwood Mac and her incredible solo career.
The first is at Rod Laver Arena where Nicks will be accompanied by the wonderful Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in a magical night to be filmed for a DVD. The marriage of Nicks’ songs with full orchestral backing promises to be an incredible experience.

So It's fair to say that I pretty much creamed my pants when I found about the upcoming Tour, I was lucky enough to see Fleetwood Mac live when they were here last March and being right at the front of the stage in arms length at Stevie's feet while she sang some of my favourite Mac songs go up there with my best memories and experiences so far.
It's going to be so amazing to hear her perform her Solo work this time around as well and I'm already in planning for the trip down to Melbourne to witness Stevie's concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra behind her.

I know it's a long shot but Stevie is one woman that I would REALLY love to meet so if anyone know's how I can get into any backstage meet and greet opportunites PLEASE let me know.

So I have to apologize for the lack of postings of late, I've rarely been online lately so I haven't had the chance to step up and bring anything of great quality to the blog (not that I was ever really doing that anyway!!)

The truth is that I have had some pretty great distractions keeping me out of the house and away from the computer lately so I guess I'm not really *THAT* sorry!. Anyway Life is treating me exceptionally well at the moment and I feel that I can't take any of the amazing and new experiences that have been occurring of late for granted so I have to make the most of them and enjoy everyday for all it's worth.

Just a quick update on what's been happening and what I have been loving.....

Receiving an incredibly sexy and special gift of great sentimental and historical importance from Scott www.billinexile.blogspot.com in the mail.

Checking out the Talent for Fox's upcoming season of "Australia's Next Top Model" at the taping at ARQ Nightclub last Thursday night, The girls this year are of a much higher calibre than the first season and It's going to make for some serious competition, I already have a favorite to win.

Celebrating the Birthday of an Amazing Friend in a Fabulously Trashy and High Calibre Fan-fare last Sunday evening, A big Thankyou to the Birthday Boy and Company involved for creating a fun filled Party that successfully manages to always raise the bar (in house lasers) while still always keeping it at hysterically low levels (red cordial and feminine hygiene products)

Getting to know a really exceptional guy that I met at the Birthday Party last Sunday and enjoying all that goes with it....Catching up for dinners, hangin out, sleepovers, and days at the Beach Together.

Getting into the Book he gave me today "Pleasure and Pain - My Life by Chrissy Amphlett" The Story of one of my favorite Female Rockers and her life as the Lead Singer of "The Divinlys" Who's music I can't get enough of.

So that's a small chunk of what's been going on lately and there will definitely be some more regular updates to the Blog again shortly.
